NEW EXHIBITION
Anthony Cafritz
June 6 – July 1, 2009

North Main Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of their new exhibition, featuring artwork by Salem resident, Anthony Cafritz.
Cafritz, for the past four years, has been investing his energy in the creation of an artist community, Salem Art Works. Transforming a defunct dairy farm, Cafritz has overseen the formation of a sculpture park, artist residency program, education and intern program, along with various artwork fabrication facilities. His commitment to the enrichment of the Salem area, to the transformative power of creativity and his own commitment as an artist are just a few of the reasons North Main Gallery is highlighting this unique individual.
Cafritz has exhibited his artwork in various sites around the country, with a most recent installation at Union College. He practices a varied approach in his artmaking including drawing, painting and sculpture. Of his content, Cafritz states “My work is an investigation into core emotional states and the basic psychological human experience.”
The exhibition runs from June 6 – July 1. There will be a reception and open house on Saturday, June 20, from 3-6pm. The public is invited to attend this free event and meet the artist.
North Main Gallery is a contemporary art space in the agricultural community of Salem, NY. North Main is committed to bringing quality contemporary arts forms to Washington County. Formerly Arts 220, North Main moved down the street in order to expanded its gallery and working space to continue to offer the Salem region a unique arts experience. North Main offers classes and workshops for children and adults of all ability levels.
